Just finished lunch at DIN TAI FUNG…..a Michelin-Star Taiwanese restaurant that opened here in NYC last summer.
This is the 181st location of Din Tai Fung around the world. I first knew about this restaurant about three years ago when I recommended it to a friend who was in LA for the weekend.
This underground restaurant, located at 1633 Broadway, between West 50th and 51st streets, is across from the Winter Garden Theater, and can seat up to 450 people… you need a reservation but it’s super easy to book one.
Din Tai Fung is known for its soup dumplings, cucumber salad, and great desserts. Dishes are designed to be shared but I was alone and quite frankly, I’m not sure I would have shared!
I started with the very fresh pyramid-style cucumber salad and the orange green tea….soooo good! Then I had the chicken Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings…dipped in vinegar/soy sauce/ginger and with a kick of chili crunch oil.
No room for their chocolate Xiao Long Bao truffles this time….but I’ll be back within a week again and I’ll make room then! (Allen Roybal - we will come as well!!)
Big thanks to I Know A Guy NYC Tours for a lot of the background info above!
